65'
Everton have to commit bodies forward now which is exactly what Leicester want. Gueye's one-two with Sigurdsson allows the Senegal midfielder to attempt a cross but it's blocked. Richarlison is fouled by Choudhury 30 yards out.
64'
Digne's latest cross can't find Calvert-Lewin and is sent forward by Choudhury. Albrighton runs into a dangerous area but Gueye deals with the threat.

Everton have made that change - Gomes goes off for Bernard. Sigurdsson will drop deeper alongside Gueye.

Leicester make a change at half-time. Ghezzal off. Albrighton off.
44'
Calvert-Lewin combines with Walcott to send the winger free down the right for Everton - they've definitely looked the more likely team to score this first half. Maguire stands off and heads the ball out to give Everton their first corner of the game. Schmeichel deals with it easily enough.
41'
Leicester win a corner down their right. Intriguingly, the slight Kenny is tasked with marking Maguire. Everton head away two deliveries in succession before Leicester eventually find Maguire at the far post. He flicks the ball on to Evans whose header doesn't have the power to test Pickford.

Everton get this game underway in the wintry sunshine!
Happy New Year and welcome to our live commentary of this Premier League match between Everton and Leicester City at Goodison Park.
The first Premier League fixture of 2019 looks a tasty one. Everton had a frustrating end to their 2018 as they won just one of their seven league games in December, their four-goal victory over Burnley between defeats to Tottenham and Brighton showing their infuriating quality. Toffees boss Marco Silva will want to see more consistency from his side from today so they can cement their top half position.
They may be ahead of Everton in eighth place but Leicester City have their own maddening form to contend with. The Foxes stunned Chelsea and Manchester City over the festive period before slumping to a shock 1-0 home defeat against Cardiff. Will one of these undoubtedly talented sides find their stride today and make progress up the Premier League table?
EVERTON (4-2-3-1): Jordan Pickford; Jonjoe Kenny, Michael Keane, Kurt Zouma, Lucas Digne; Idrissa Gueye, Andre Gomes; Theo Walcott, Gylfi Sigurdsson (c), Richarlison; Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
LEICESTER CITY (4-3-3): Kasper Schmeichel (c); Danny Simpson, Jonny Evans, Harry Maguire, Ben Chilwell; Wilfred Ndidi, Nampalys Mendy, Hamza Choudhury; Ricardo Pereira, Jamie Vardy, Rachid Ghezzal.
LEICESTER SUBS: Demarai Gray, Danny Ward, Christian Fuchs, Marc Albrighton, Shinji Okazaki, Caglar Soyuncu. James Maddison.
The two teams take to the Goodison Park pitch and observe a minute's applause for fans of both clubs who have sadly departed in the last year. Poignant stuff.
This game hasn't been the most exciting start to Premier League life in 2019, you have to say. Everton have easily been the more forward-looking of the two teams but haven't been able to grab the game by the scruff of the neck. Leicester have been mildly threatening on the break. Let's hope the second half is better.
That victory lifts Puel's Leicester to seventh place in the Premier League ahead of Wolves for now. Everton remain in tenth.
An unhappy New Year for Everton, then, who will at least have the chance to make amends against lower league Lincoln in the FA Cup this weekend. Leicester will too turn their eyes to their trip to Newport County. That's all for now. Goodbye!
