A scrappy moment in attack for Everton late on as Zouma spins inside the area to stab an effort at goal but Button is on hand to make a comfortable save, as he looks to end his Premier League debut with a clean sheet.
90' +1
The fourth official has signalled for four minutes of additional time at the end of the second half.
90'
Big chance for Everton with a free-kick in a dangerous position but Digne is unable to threaten Button, instead striking his effort into the wall.
89'
Not too long left on the south coast and Brighton look set to end 2018 on a high, while Everton will be thankful to see the back of December as they have suffered a poor run of form.
86'
Hughton still has two changes available and will likely use them in the final minutes to waste some time, which is hardly surprising.
84'
Brighton look to be in a strong position holding onto their narrow advantage, which would give them a solid cushion above the relegation zone heading into the second half of the campaign.
82'
Everton have been pretty woeful today and the supporters are unlikely to be happy with this performance. It has been a rollercoaster campaign so far for the Toffees and it looks like that will continue.
80'
O. Niasse enters the game and replaces Bernard.
Third and final change for Everton, with Niasse taking the spot of Bernard.
79'
Big chance for Murray to double Brighton's lead as he picks up the ball inside the box and tries to curl into the corner of the net but Keane stands firm to block the effort.
Minute
Description
78'
Superb effort from Bernardo as he single-handedly puts the Everton defence on edge, showing tremendous strength to beat Walcott and Coleman before firing a cross into the middle.
76'
Richarlison is growing increasingly frustrated in attack for Everton as things have not gone his way at all today. For all his promise this season, you have to feel Silva will look to purchase another striker in January and move the Brazilian to a role out wide.
74'
G. Murray enters the game and replaces F. Andone.
Brighton's turn to make a change and they too freshen up their attack, replacing Andone with Murray.
72'
D. Calvert-Lewin enters the game and replaces André Gomes.
Confirmation of Everton's second change of the game, with Calvert-Lewin taking the spot of Gomes.
70'
Heading into the final 20 minutes on the south coast and Everton have shown little signs of being able to claw their way back into the game. Calvert-Lewin looks set to be introduced though to provide fresh legs to the Toffees' attack.
68'
Superb play from Bernard as he bursts through the Brighton defence from a wide position and strikes an effort at goal but it goes out for a throw on the opposite side. That pretty much sums Everton up in the final third today.
65'
G. Sigurðsson enters the game and replaces Y. Mina.
A tactical reshuffle from Silva as Mina, on a yellow card, makes way and Sigurdsson takes his spot.
63'
It has taken over an hour but the game has finally sparked into life. Brighton certainly deserve their lead after a solid performance since the restart but that chance for Everton shows the visitors still pose a threat.
59'
J. Locadia has scored a goal for Brighton & Hove Albion!
GOOOOAL! 1-0 Brighton! A corner is floated into the middle and the ball strikes Gomes falling into the path of Locadia and he smashes home. It was initially deemed to be offside but the decision is correctly overturned.
56'
Y. Mina gets yellow.
There is an edge developing in the game now as Mina barges into the back of Bernardo and sends the Brighton man flying.
Silva is also furious with Brighton for what he clearly believes was unsporting behaviour but Richarlison did not have a head injury, so there was no requirement for the Seagulls to put the ball out of play.
53'
Bernard gets yellow.
First yellow card of the game is issued to Bernard after he is furious that Brighton did not kick the ball out of play with Richarlison down in a heap.
51'
The resulting corner is fired deep to Dunk and he gets his head to the cross but his attempt soars over the roof of Pickford's net without posing any problems.
50'
Better from Brighton as Propper superbly makes room for himself by turning Mina before threading a ball through to Andone but Zouma makes a solid sliding challenge inside the box to clear the ball away for a corner.
48'
Andone has not seen too many opportunities to test Pickford so far and you have to wonder how long it will be until Hughton introduces Murray to the fray.
46'
No changes at the break as Everton get the second half underway.
45' +1
HALF-TIME: BRIGHTON 0-0 EVERTON
45'
Just a single minute of additional time to play at the end of the first half.
43'
Plenty for both managers to think about at the break and not too many positives to focus on.
41'
Fine work from Richarlison as he gets onto the end of a searching cross into the middle and he nods a header back in the direction of Bernard, who was not quick enough to take advantage.
40'
Still very few signs of a breakthrough as the game ticks towards the interval and it is a match that desperately needs someone to spark it into life.
36'
At this rate it looks unlikely that the deadlock will be broken before the interval, where both managers may look to different options from the bench.
34'
Brighton look to put pressure on Everton once again but a decent cross into the area is headed away, forcing the Seagulls to start again.
32'
Everton should have had a free-kick on the edge of the box but play continues, with Walcott then putting too much behind his cross to Gueye at the far post and another opportunity goes begging.
31'
The tide of the game has started to turn to Everton's favour, who are enjoying a decent spell in possession and are starting to stretch the Brighton defence.
25'
At the moment the teams are playing like we all feel a few days after Christmas, lacking drive and urgency. There is still plenty of time for that to change though.
23'
Brighton have been very positive as they look to play out from the back but Everton's three-man defensive trio has found things relatively easy so far.
21'
The Toffees are starting to find some room to work with in attack but Button, on his Premier League debut, is yet to be tested.
19'
Everton came flying out of the blocks against Burnley on Boxing Day, scoring three in the opening 22 minutes, but it has been a slow start from Silva's side on the south coast.
17'
Half-hearted appeals from Brighton for a penalty after Duffy comes off second best in an aerial challenge inside the box but the referee is right to ignore the protests.
15'
First real chance of the game as Gross plays a fine ball into the middle where Andone is lurking but Pickford is brave to dive to push the ball away, with Locadia's effort then blocked.
14'
Mina shoves Andone off the ball and concedes a free-kick in a threatening position. The delivery is an inviting one but, just like moments ago at the other end, the Everton defence clears the danger.
12'
Digne fires the first corner of the game into the middle but it is headed away. Bernard picks up possession and crosses to the far post, where Keane heads wide of the target.
9'
Everton are now knocking the ball around the defence as they look to establish a foothold but it has been a slow start.
7'
Brighton continue to dominate the early exchanges but the majority of play has come in midfield, with neither side yet to test the opposing defences.
5'
Digne and Bernard have both been unhappy after they believed they should have won free-kicks but referee Andy Madley is allowing the game to flow early on.
3'
The hosts are moving the ball around with intent in the opening exchanges as they look to establish a foothold on the game.
1'
Brighton get the action underway at the Amex Stadium.
Hello and welcome to our LIVE coverage of the Premier League clash between Brighton and Hove Albion and Everton, where both sides are looking to build upon the promising results they picked up on Boxing Day.
Brighton fought back from behind to frustrate Arsenal with a 1-1 draw last time out, while Everton hit five past Burnley on the road and brought an end to a five-game winless streak in the process. Both will be looking to build on those results today.
Brighton subs: Jason Steele, Beram Kayal, Yves Bissouma, Viktor Gyokeres, Leon Balogun, Gaetan Bong, Glenn Murray.
Everton XI (3-4-2-1): Jordan Pickford; Yerry Mina, Michael Keane, Kurt Zouma; Seamus Coleman, Andre Gomes, Idrissa Gueye, Lucas Digne; Theo Walcott, Bernard; Richarlison.
Everton subs: Maarten Stekelenburg, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Oumar Niasse, Leighton Baines, Phil Jagielka, Tom Davies.
The two sides are taking to the field ahead of their final match of 2018.
Brighton XI (4-4-2): David Button; Martin Montoya, Shane Duffy, Lewis Dunk, Bernardo; Solly March, Davy Propper, Dale Stephens, Pascal Gross; Florin Andone, Jurgen Locadia.
Nothing to separate the two teams at the break but Everton have forced saves from Premier League debutant Button, although there was nothing too threatening. At the other end, the majority of Pickford's touches have come from his feet as he fires searching balls forwards.
Everton have looked the better side overall and may look toward Sigurdsson to provide some creativity, while Hughton will want his Brighton side to be more expansive in their search of what would be a valuable goal.
Thanks for joining our coverage today. Until next time, goodbye.
Brighton have just a few days to prepare for their trip to face West Ham in midweek before an FA Cup clash with Bournemouth, while Everton need a response from their back-to-back matches at Goodison Park against Leicester and League Two minnows Lincoln City.
