What a block! Marcelo works his way off the left of the box and slots the ball to Ronaldo in space. He takes a step into the box before unleashing a powerful effort. It looked goalbound were it not for a brilliant last-gasp block by Hernandez, who flew in out of nowhere to get his foot to it. Exceptional defending by the Atletico right-back.
Yellow card Diego Roberto Godín Leal
88'
Atletico look to have a chance to break forward but Carrasco holds onto the ball for too long and the danger runs out. Poor from Carrasco as he had two players running into space ahead of him.

Yellow card for Koke for a late challenge on Modric as Real came forward on the counter attack.

Corner for Atletico from very little. Koke chips a hopeful pass towards Correa, who gets his head to it just under 18 yards from goal. It bounces off a defender and out of play. The corner comes to nothing and Real come away with the ball.
67'
The second half is lacking the end to end excitement that the first half had but it is still impossible to separate these two sides at the moment. Neither are offering any real threat in attack in this second half and as things stand Barcelona will hold a 10 point lead over their title rivals after 12 games.
65'
Atletico with a spell of maintained possession in the final third but they struggle to find any way into the box, forcing them back to their own goalkeeper.

Atletico have room to break away again, but Carrasco's knock ahead of himself is too heavy and rolls out of play. All Real Madrid at the moment as Atletico are offering very little going forward.
58'
Real Madrid still being forced to try and cross the ball, which are easily dealt with each time by the Atletico defenders. They are overloading the central areas with numbers and forcing their opponents wide. Brilliant defending from the home side.

Great work from Koke! He loses his balance but still manages to turn his marker and slot the ball into the path of Gabi. The captain's shot is well hit towards the top-right corner but it swerves just over the bar.

Isco plays a brilliant pass down the left for Marcelo to chase. He has time at the byline to pick a pass, but it is blocked away by Saul before being cleared away again. Two minutes of injury time left to play.
44'
The cross is cleared at the near post by Ramos. The ball is eventually worked back towards the box but Correa miscontrols on the edge of the box and Real regain possession.
43'
Atletico with a corner after a spell of pressure in the final third. Partey to take.
40'
Real coming forward on the left wing again. First through Marcelo, who shows excellent skill to worm his way out of trouble and play the ball to Isco. He also shows brilliant footwork to find his way to the left of the box, but his cross is easily dealt with. Real on top at the moment.
38'
Ronaldo has space on the right wing but there is only Benzema in the box for him to find with a cross. His cross is blocked and it's another Real corner, which is cleared from danger.
37'
Slight delay as Sergio Ramos receives treatment after being caught in the nose by the shin of Hernandez.
35'
Ronaldo lines up a free-kick from around 35 yards away from goal. He gets plenty of power on the ball but Oblak finds himself equal to it. The following corner is dealt with well by the Atletico defenders.
34'
S. Savić gets yellow.
Stefan Savić is booked for a foul outside the Atletico box.
33'
Benzema looks to break beyond the Atletico backline on the right wing. His touch is just a little too heavy and the ball rolls just out of play before the Frenchman can get is cross off.
31'
Close! Real create their first clear cut chance of the game. Ronaldo and Toni Kroos link up well on the edge of the Atletico box, with the German firing the ball narrowly wide of the near post. Good play from Zidane's side there and they are showing signs of taking control of this tie now.

28'
Earlier, Gabi tried an ambitious effort from outside the left of the box, on the volley, which flied just narrowly wide of the right post.
26'
26 minutes played and Atletico are looking the better side so far. Real are finding no joy in the final third when they do come forward.
24'
Strange decision from Lucas Hernandez on the left wing there. He shows good strength to worm away from Iscoand find his way into space. He then turns back and straight into Isco in a bid to beat the player again instead of passing, eventually forcing a throw-in.
22'
Karim Benzema and Marcelo link up well on the left. Benzema charges into acres of space behind the Atletico defenders but the return pass from his Brazilian teammate is overhit and bounces harmlessly into the hands of Jan Oblak.
20'
Dani Carvajal gets yellow.
Daniel Carvajal receives the first yellow card for a late challenge.
19'
Atletico staying resolute and organised at the back. Real are coming forward with purpose but they can't find a way beyond the wall of red and white shirts.
17'
End to end football so far but neither side managing to carve out any clear chances. Entertaining game so far and the fans are providing plenty of atmosphere.
15'
Atletico's turn to bring the ball forward now. A backpass towards Kiko Casilla is poor, giving Griezmann a sniff of a chance. Casilla takes no chances though and hammers the ball clear. Koke meets a cross from the left at the near post shortly after but his flicked attempt on goal was blocked.
12'
Real Madrid applying the pressure. Cristiano Ronaldo and Isco link up on the left. Isco's cross is cleared away but it comes back in from the right. Savic is wise to the danger to clear away again. Well defended by Simeone's side.
9'
All even so far in this first half. A good start from both sides. Correa does well on the right wing to break beyond Isco and Marcelo. His touch is a little too heavy though, allowing Ramos to clear up the danger.
7'
Atletico survive the first bit of Real pressure. Marcelo finds his way to the byline in the left of the box and fires it towards the six-yard box. Stefan Savic is well positioned at the near-post to hammer it clear.
5'
Real beginning to gain a measure of control in the midfield areas now. Isco is brought down around the halfway line as he tried to dribble his way around Thomas Partey.
3'
Unbelievable miss! The ball is bouncing everywhere in midfield and Gabi's pass is deflected off a Real shirt and into the feet of Correa. He only has the keeper to beat with a full net to aim for and he remarkably slots far wide of the right post. Could Atletico be left to rue missing that chance?
2'
Atletico Madrid with an energetic start to the game. They are pressing high and aggressively hoping to nick the ball high up the pitch. Real Madrid being given no time to settle on the ball.
1'
We're underway! Atletico start us off kicking left-to-right.
Good evening and welcome to our live text commentary of today’s La Liga game between Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano.
It’s the Madrid derby and there is a lot on the line for both of these sides this evening. They sit in third and fourth respectively, level on points but 11 points behind league leaders Barcelona, who beat Leganes earlier this afternoon.
Atletico Madrid are unbeaten in eight games across all competitions, with their last defeat coming against Chelsea in the Champion’s League group stages. Unfortunately, they have won only two of those eight games, drawing the other six. They remain defensively solid which will help against today’s rivals but it is in front of goal they have struggled lately, scoring only six goals in those eight games.
Diego Simeone has a fully fit squad to choose from for this evenings derby clash and striker Angel Correa could potentially start alongside France forward Antoine Griezmann. Fellow forward Diego Costa will continue to watch from the stands as he remains ineligible to play for his new club until January.
Real Madrid bounced back from their Champion’s League defeat to Tottenham to win 3-0 at Las Palmas before the international break. They have endured a patchy start to the season but have slowly begun the recovery process, winning five of their last eight fixtures in all competitions. The surprise defeat to Girona at the end of October has left them in a precarious position with a lot of ground to make up on title rivals Barcelona; and tonight’s opponents will certainly be no pushover.
Zinedine Zidane has a few injury concerns ahead of tonight’s derby clash. Gareth Bale remains out with a hamstring injury and is joined on the sidelines by Mateo Kovacic. Keylor Navas has returned to training but not yet fit enough to return, while Luka Modric and Dani Carvajal could possibly feature.
There’s just over 15 minutes left to go until kick-off, so let’s have a look at how the two teams will be lining up this afternoon…
Atletico Madrid Substitutes: Gimenez, Torres, Moya, Luis, Gameiro, Gaitan, Carrasco.
Real Madrid XI (4-3-1-2): Casilla; Carvajal, Varane, Ramos, Marcelo; Modric, Casemiro, Kroos; Isco; Ronaldo, Benzema.
Real Madrid Substitutes: Ceballos, Mayoral, Hernandez, Moha Ramos, Nacho, Lucas Vazquez, Asensio.
There is only one change from the Atletico Madrid side that beat Deportivo de La Coruna before the international break. Koke replaces Augusto Fernandez in midfield and Angel Correa continues to partner Antoine Griezmann up front.
Real Madrid make two changes from the side that won 3-0 against Las Palmas as Luka Modric returns to the side in place of Marco Asensio and Raphael Varane partners Sergio Ramos in defence, replacing Jesus Vallejo.
The two sides are making their way out onto the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off.
Atletico Madrid XI (4-4-2): Oblak; Juanfran, Savic, Godin, Hernandez; Partey, Gabi, Saul, Koke; Correa, Griezmann.
HALF-TIME: ATLETICO MADRID 0-0 REAL MADRID
All square at the half-time. A very entertaining and competitive 45 minutes in what was a very end to end game of football at times. Both sides were limited to half-chances for the most part but both were guilty of spurning some very clearcut chances. Correa slotted the ball wide with only the goalkeeper to beat and Kroos linked up well with Ronaldo before chipped his shot narrowly wide of the near post. Neither side really in control and it looks like it will take something special to separate these two sides.
The players are making their way back out onto the pitch, ahead of the start of the second half.
FULL-TIME: ATLETICO MADRID 0-0 REAL MADRID
An exciting game throughout. It was an energetic battle between both sides throughout but both lacked any real quality in the final third to force a winner. Substitute Kevin Gameiro came closest in the second half after his chipped shot was cleared off the line by Varane and it took a brilliant last gasp block from Hernandez to deny Cristiano Ronaldo a winner too. In the end, a draw is a fair result, with the real winner being Barcelona, who go 10 points clear of their Madrid rivals.
