The home fans are making plenty of noise now as the game enters the first of four minutes of added time.
90'
M. Gregoritsch enters the game and replaces F. Kainz.
A final change for Austria now as they look to make sure they don’t leave this game empty handed as Kainz is replaced by Michael Gregoritsch.
88'
Now there are huge appeals for a penalty as Walters goes to ground under a challenge from Lainer as he goes to take a shot on from 12 yards out. The referee waives play on but Martin O’Neill is deep in conversation with the fourth official about it.
87'
DISALLOWED GOAL!!! Ireland think they’ve stolen it as Duffy bundles the ball over the line from close range after a header towards goal from Murphy, but the referee disallows the goal, despite there not appearing to be too much wrong with it.
85'
J. Walters has scored a goal for Republic of Ireland! Assist by R. Brady.
Brady’s long ball forward was more of a hopeful one than anything else but Walters did well to make something of it.
GOOOOOOAAAALLLLLLLLLL!!!!!! Walters draws Ireland level!!! He shows incredible strength to ease Dragovic off the ball before lashing a ferocious first-time volley past Linder and into the corner from just inside the penalty box.
84'
SAVE!! Wonderful save from Randolph to keep his side in it. Grillitsch has only been on the field for a few minutes but he very nearly doubles Austria’s lead as he shoots on the turn from eight yards out, only to see his goal-bound effort turned around the post by Randolph.
81'
CLOSE!! Austria very nearly put this game to bed as Kainz skips away into space down the left-hand side and whips a wonderful low cross across the face of goal towards Lainer who is arriving late, but the ball is fractionally too heavy for the right-back and Ireland escape once again.
80'
OFF THE LINE!!! Ireland come so close to drawing level as Long gets his head to an inswinging corner six yards out from goal and flicks his header towards goal, but Lainer is well positioned on the line to turn the ball away from goal before McClean snatches at the rebound and blasts his effort over the bar from a tight angle.
79'
F. Grillitsch enters the game and replaces Z. Junuzović.
Another change for Austria with Junuzović going off to be replaced by Florian Grillitsch.
78'
Austria are sitting very deep now and Ireland are finding it difficult to find any way through despite seeing plenty of the ball.
Minute
Description
77'
A. McGeady enters the game and replaces G. Whelan.
A third and final change for Ireland too now as Martin O’Neill attempts to get his side back into this game, with Aiden McGeady coming on for Whelan.
75'
M. Harnik enters the game and replaces G. Burgstaller.
A first change for Austria now and Burgstaller slowly trudges off to be replaced by Martin Harnik.
73'
CLOSE!! A huge slice of luck for Austria as Hoolahan swings in a wonderful cross from the right-hand side which causes all sorts of problems inside the six yard box, eventually bouncing off Lainer and straight into the arms of Linder. That really could have gone anywhere off the right-back, who’s had an otherwise impressive game.
71'
W. Hoolahan enters the game and replaces H. Arter.
Ireland are making a second change now and it’s a popular one inside the Aviva Stadium as Wes Hoolahan comes on, although somewhat surprisingly it’s Arter that goes off.
70'
Junuzovic swings in a corner from the left-hand side and Burgstaller is completely unmarked at the back post as the ball drops towards him, but it just drops too far behind him and he fails to make any decent contact with an ambitious bicycle kick.
68'
McClean goes to ground inside the penalty box following a long throw from Christie, but the referee ignores the appeals for a penalty, which in truth came largely from some very optimistic Ireland fans as opposed to the players.
66'
The Irish fans are getting a little frustrated at the amount of time Dragovic is spending down injured now with a few boos beginning to ring out.
64'
Austria look as though they’re just trying to slow the game down a little bit now in order to regain some control but Ireland break forward nonetheless as McClean picks the ball up in a good position just outside the box, but he ignores Arter who had made a good run forward in support, and drags his low shot wide of the near post.
62'
Ireland are enjoying a really good little spell here as Arter sees his well struck volley blocked before Murphy has penalty appeals turned down by referee Borbalan. The home crowd are sensing a shift in momentum too and they’re really starting to get behind their side.
60'
It looks as though Ireland have gone to a 4-4-2 following that change with Murphy going to play alongside Walters up front and Brady slotting in at left-back.
58'
Duffy once again gets up well at the back post to head Christie’s long free-kick into a dangerous area, but Prodl does exceptionally well to turn back towards his own goal and divert the ball over the bar for a corner, which he then heads away from danger.
56'
D. Murphy enters the game and replaces S. Ward.
A first change for Ireland now as Daryl Murphy comes on in place of Ward.
55'
A half-chance for Ireland now as McClean chests down Duffy’s long ball forward and although Walters is denied with the first effort, the ball falls to Arter who just snatches at his first-time volley slightly and fires it wide of the left-hand post.
53'
Kainz does well to get into half a yard of space down the left-hand edge of the penalty area and he rolls the ball back to Hinteregger behind him, but the left-back fails to find the net for a second time with an ambitious 25-yard shot which goes comfortably over Randolph’s goal.
51'
This game has really opened up at the start of this second half and Walters gets in behind the Austria defence and appears to be clean through on goal, but Dragovic recovers to make an outstanding sliding tackle to take the ball away from him. Martin O’Neill is going mad on the side-lines but he won’t have too many complaints when he sees the replay as Dragovic clearly got a touch on the ball.
49'
Austria have made a really bright start to this second half and they go close once again as Lazaro gets away from Ward on the right-hand side and pulls a cross back towards Junuzovic who turns the ball towards goal, but Duffy gets in the way of the shot and Ireland escape.
48'
CLOSE!!! A huge chance for Alaba as he drives forward towards the Ireland penalty box before spreading the ball wide to Kainz on the left-hand edge of the penalty box, and Kainz slides the ball immediately back across the penalty box for Alaba to run onto but he can only turn his first-time effort wide of the goal from eight yards out.
47'
Martin O’Neill has resisted the urge to make any changes at half-time but it looks as though McClean is playing in a more central area in behind Walters, as Duffy heads Christie's long ball forward narrowly wide from 12 yards out.
46'
Kick-off! Austria get the second half underway.
43'
Glenn Whelan surges forward and knocks the ball into Walters just inside the box, but his shot on the turn is horribly scuffed and Heinz Linder, who’s been incredibly quiet in the Austria goal, can watch it roll harmlessly out for a goal kick.
42'
Ireland have possession midway through the Austria half courtesy of Arter but the Bournemouth midfielder has very little ahead of him and ends up rolling the ball sideways to Ward, whose cross is easily blocked.
40'
The noise levels are finally starting to grow inside the Aviva Stadium as Brady’s corner goes all the way through to Kevin Long at the back post, but the ball catches the centre-back by surprise and he’s unable to turn it towards goal from seven yards out.
38'
Christie gets away into space down the right-hand edge of the penalty box and puts a first-time cross into the middle, but the ball evades Walters and Austria are able to clear. Christie looks a little frustrated with his team mates there and understandably so as there was only Walters in the middle.
36'
Perhaps one or two signs of frustration just starting to creep in for Ireland as they take a short corner on the left-hand side, only for Hendrick to balloon his cross over everybody waiting in the middle and out for a goal kick.
34'
Walters does well to control a long ball forward on his chest before laying the ball off to McClean, but the winger fails to beat Stefan Lainer who cuts out the danger.
32'
C. Christie gets yellow.
Christie joins Brady in the referee’s book following a foul 40 yards out from his own goal.
31'
M. Hinteregger has scored a goal for Austria! Assist by D. Alaba.
On first glance it looked as though the delivery was a poor one from Alaba, but it looks as though that was actually a well-rehearsed training ground move.
GOOOOOAAAALLLLL!!! Hinteregger puts Austria ahead! Alaba whips in a low corner from the left-hand side and Prodl allows the ball to roll between his legs towards Hinteregger behind him, who drills the ball into the bottom corner with a first-time, left-footed effort from 15 yards out.
29'
R. Brady gets yellow.
The first yellow card of the game goes to Brady for bringing down Martin Hinteregger with what was a pretty rash challenge in truth.
27'
A half-chance for Walters as Hendrick picks the ball up in space 25 yards out from goal and slips a pass into Walters on the edge of the area, but the striker can’t quite get the ball out of his feet to get a shot away, although the flag then goes up against him for offside anyway.
25'
Ireland have certainly improved in the last five minutes or so but Austria still look much more comfortable on the ball, albeit without creating any meaningful chances so far.
23'
CHANCE!! Much better from Ireland now as Ward drills a low, first-time cross into McClean 10 yards out from goal and the West Brom winger does well to lay the ball back to Walters who is unmarked behind him, but he tries to side foot the ball into the corner and can only slice it a couple of yards wide.
21'
A good opportunity going forward goes begging for Ireland as Brady skips away into space down the right-hand side and has Cyrus Christie outside him, but Brady ignores his right-back and instead goes for goal himself, only for his effort to be blocked away from danger.
19'
Close! Sebastian Prodl attacks a Junuzovic corner six yards out from goal but the ball is fractionally too far ahead of the Watford centre-back and it bounces out for a goal kick. Randolph was caught in the middle of nowhere there though.
18'
Ireland are really struggling to string more than a couple of passes together as Walters is penalised for a push on Dragovic, which draws a wry smile from the Stoke striker as the centre-back certainly made the most of that.
17'
Seamus Coleman, who is unavailable having suffered a horrendous leg injury in the 0-0 draw with Wales in Ireland’s last qualifier, has just been shown on the big screen which has drawn a loud round of applause from the home fans.
15'
Brady does go for goal but it’s a poor effort which goes straight into the wall, sending a groan around the Aviva Stadium.
14'
Walters wins his side a free-kick 30 yards out from goal in a central area following a foul by Dragovic, and Robbie Brady will certainly fancy going for goal from this position.
12'
Austria have certainly settled into this game far better than Ireland have in the opening minutes, and the away fans are by far the noisiest too.
10'
Stephen Ward makes a real mess of dealing with Alaba’s ball forward and Austria win it back before Valentino Lazaro goes to ground under a challenge from Jeff Hendrick just outside the penalty area, but once again the referee sees nothing wrong with the challenge and calls for play to continue.
8'
Ireland haven’t really got going in this game so far and they’re resorting to long balls forward already which will be a slight concern to Martin O’Neill.
6'
Jonathan Walters is bundled to the floor by Aleksandar Dragovic close to halfway but the referee decides there was nothing wrong with the challenge and allows play to continue.
4'
The first opening of the game falls the way of Austria as Junuzovic spreads the ball wide to Florian Kainz on the left-hand side before taking the return pass just inside the box, but his left-footed shot on the turn is straight at Darren Randolph.
2'
Austria win an early free-kick following a foul on Zlatko Junuzovic which David Alaba looks to float into the middle, but his delivery is a poor one and Ireland are able to clear the ball away.
1'
Kick-off! Referee David Fernandez Borbalan blows his whistle and Ireland get the game underway.
Hello and welcome to live coverage of the World Cup Qualifier between the Republic of Ireland and Austria at the Aviva Stadium.
Ireland currently sit second in group D, behind leaders Serbia on goal difference only, having won three of their five matches so far.
One of those wins came against Austria in November of last year, when James McClean scored the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win.
They did though miss out on the chance to go top of the group in the last international window, as they were held to a 0-0 draw at home to Wales, who sit four points behind them in third.
Austria are level on points with Wales having won two and drawn one of their five games, most recently beating Moldova 2-0 at the Ernst-Happel-Stadion.
David Alaba is the stand-out name in the Austrian side, and he will line up in the middle of the midfield with Watford’s Sebastian Prodl starting at centre-half. Stoke’s Marko Arnautovic is unavailable through suspension.
The players are out on the pitch and the national anthems are underway. Kick-off is not far away now.
Half-time: Republic of Ireland 0-1 Austria
Martin O’Neill’s side are without the injured Shane Long meaning Jonathan Walters leads the line as the lone striker, while Wes Hoolahan has to settle for a place on the bench with Glenn Whelan, Jeff Hendrick and Harry Arter occupying the middle of midfield.
The visitors lead at the break thanks to Hinteregger’s well worked goal from Alaba’s corner, and Ireland can have very few complaints after a pretty abject first half display.
Austria have been the better side throughout the half and although they haven’t created too many chances aside from the goal, they’ve rarely looked threatened at the other end, and Martin O’Neill may well have to look to a change in the system in the second half, as Walters has been pretty isolated for the majority of the half.
Full-time: Republic of Ireland 1-1 Austria
Martin O’Neill shakes his head as the full-time whistle sounds, presumably at the decision to rule out what would have been a dramatic late winner for Shane Duffy. Ireland though do go top of Group D, for a couple of hours at least, thanks to Jonathan Walters’ equaliser after Martin Hinteregger had given Austria a first-half lead. That’s all from us for today, thanks for joining us and we hope to see you again soon.
