Hello and welcome along to tonight's live text commentary of Shakhtar Donetsk vs Feyenoord from the Champions League.
These two sides met in the last fixture in the competition in October and Shakhtar did enough to secure a 2-1 in the Netherlands. They head into the game at the Metalist Stadium as the heavy favourites and Feyenoord will need to dig deep to grab all three points.
The Dutch outfit will be out of the competition if they do not win this evening, while Shakhtar sit second and they can put pressure on group leaders Manchester City who face Napoli tonight. Giovanni van Bronckhorst's troops are on a bad run of late, winning just one of their last five matches in all competitions. They have also lost their last six Champions League games in a row.
Shakhtar are unbeaten in their last six games in all competitions but they will need to improve at the back after conceding in nine of their last 10 games in the Champions League.
Shakhtar boss Paulo Fonseca makes four changes to his team that drew 1-1 with Stal Kamianske. In come Pyatov, Ismaily, Marlos and Bernard for Shevchenko, Marcio Azevedo, Zubkov and Kovalenko.
Feyenoord boss Van Bronckhorst makes just two alterations to the team that drew 1-1 with Roda JC. Out go Diks and Larsson for Tapia and Amrabat.
The players are out on the pitch and the Champions League anthem blasts around the Metalist Stadium. That of course can only mean one thing...kick-off is minutes away.
HALF-TIME Shakhtar 2-1 Feyenoord.
The referee blows to end the first-half and it has been an entertaining encounter so far at the Metalist Stadium. The home side fell behind after some sloppy marking allowed Jorgensen to head home but goals from Ferreyra and Marlos have given them the advantage.
Feyenoord have looked dangerous on occasions but this is Shakhtar's game to lose so far. They have dominated in large parts and could have scored one or two more goals. Second-half coverage coming up shortly.
FULL-Time - Shakhtar 3-1 Feyenoord.
Shakhtar move three points clear of Napoli who have lost to Manchester City tonight and those results could go a long way in deciding who reaches the knockout stages of the Champions League. Fonseca's men were far too good in the end but both teams could have had more goals on another night.
That is all for tonight folks, thanks for tuning in. Goodbye!
A defeat now means Feyenoord can only qualify for the Europa League but they're performances in Europe have not been good enough. They showed more promise tonight but Shakhtar's quality proved too much.
