United have made a late defensive change, with Matteo Darmian coming on to replace Young in a like-for-like swap.
90' +2
Tottenham are piling as many bodies forward as possible as they desperately try to find a way back into the game at this late stage. United have every player back to defend, however, and at the moment they're comfortably managing to keep their opponents at bay.
90'
The fourth official has indicated that there will be three minutes of added time.
89'
What an opportunity for Lingard to wrap up the win! After dealing with the free-kick, United quickly burst forward on a great counter-attack. Lingard breaks into the Tottenham box and only has Lloris to beat after getting the better of Eriksen, but he completely mishits his strike and sends it high over the crossbar.
88'
Tottenham win themselves a free-kick just inside the United half of the pitch, and every available body is thrown into the penalty area. It's fired in by Eriksen and almost picks out a team-mate, but Smalling is there to get a head on the ball at the vital moment.
87'
It's all United at the moment as they patiently hold onto the ball inside the Tottenham half of the pitch. Unsurprisingly, they don't seem in too much of a hurry to get the ball into the box, with the visitors desperately trying to regain possession.
85'
Another Tottenham attacking move ends with Aurier over on the right flank, as the Ivorian curls a second dangerous cross into the hosts' box. Once again it sails over to Alli, who can't get the better of Bailly and loses out to the centre-back.
83'
Tottenham quickly push forward from the restart as they try to find an equaliser. Aurier swings in a dangerous cross from the right wing that manages to pick out Alli, but the attacking midfielder is penalised for climbing all over Bailly, much to his annoyance.
81'
A. Martial has scored a goal for Manchester United! Assist by R. Lukaku.
GOAL! United have finally found an opener! A thumping goal-kick from De Gea picks out Lukaku, who rises high and nods the ball down towards Martial. A simple flick-on comfortably finds the Frenchman, who breaks into the box and fires a bouncing strike past Lloris.
Lukaku did well to rise high above Alderweireld and pick out Martial, but Tottenham really should have done much better defensively. They had performed really well up until then but completely fell asleep.
80'
Aurier skips into the right-hand side of the hosts' penalty area and latches onto a clever pass forward. He then tries to tee up Alli in the middle of the box, but he's immediately flagged offside and a promising attacking move comes to a disappointing end.

Description
79'
Lukaku hits the post! Lingard receives the ball out wide and quickly whips a looping cross into the middle of the Tottenham box. Lukaku rises high above Alderweireld and latches onto the ball, but his downward header crashes off the woodwork after beating Lloris.
77'
Huge opportunity for Alli! A lovely chipped pass from Eriksen floats into the heart of the United penalty area and finds Alli ahead of Smalling, but the Englishman can't make decent contact with the ball and knocks his attempted volley just wide of the post.
75'
It's been a pretty quiet afternoon for Eriksen, who has struggled to find much space inside the United half of the pitch. The Dane is eventually able to do so and gets a shot away from 20 yards out, but it's completely overhit and sails high over the top of the crossbar.
74'
United come back once again as they continue trying to find an opening goal. Matic makes it into the penalty area before Valencia quickly takes over, but the defender immediately throws himself to the ground under a tackle from Dembele and earns himself a booking for diving.
73'
A. Valencia gets yellow.
Great save by Lloris! Lukaku, who hasn't had too many chances to impress in front of goal, breaks into the Tottenham box and manages to get a shot away from the left-hand side. It's hit with some venom, but Lloris is equal to it with an impressive diving stop.
71'
Young charges down the left flank and then fires a deep cross over to the far post, where Lukaku rises high but can't quite latch onto the ball. It bounces over to Valencia before the Ecuadorian chips another cross back into the box, and Martial tries to pull off an acrobatic overhead kick but can't quite execute it properly.
70'
A. Martial enters the game and replaces M. Rashford.
United have made another attacking alteration, with Anthony Martial coming on to take the place of Rashford.
68'
Aurier does well to get himself into a pocket of space just outside of the hosts' box after good build-up play from his side, but a poorly executed pass into the penalty area rolls straight into the hands of De Gea before it can find Eriksen in front of goal.
67'
After a frantic few moments inside the Tottenham half of the pitch, the pace of the game has slowed down somewhat. The visitors are starting to get back into the contest, but they're still struggling to find a way through United's well-organised and compact back line.
65'
J. Lingard enters the game and replaces H. Mkhitaryan.
United have made their first change of the afternoon, with Mkhitaryan making way for Jesse Lingard.
64'
What a strike by Valencia! A low corner in from the left wing isn't fully dealt with by Llorente, resulting in yet another corner for United. Mkhitaryan's second isn't hit particularly well but bounces out to Valencia, who unleashes a rocket of a shot from 20 yards out that flies just over the crossbar.
63'
Rashford shows great grit and determination to muscle his way past Dembele before sending a clever pass into the path of Lukaku. The Belgian striker does his best to try and latch onto the ball on the edge of the Tottenham box, but Lloris rushes out and clears the danger with a good bit of goalkeeping.
62'
M. Dembélé enters the game and replaces M. Sissoko.
Fernando Llorente enters the game and replaces Son Heung-Min.
It hasn't been the best of starts to the second half for Tottenham, who have decided to make a double substitution as they try to get back into the game. The first player to come on is Fernando Llorente, who replaces Son up front.
And the second is Mousa Dembele, who takes the place of Sissoko.
60'
Rashford's second cross isn't quite as good as the first, but Son can't fully clear the danger at the near post. The ball loops up into the air and down towards Bailly, who tries to get a header away but, under pressure, isn't able to do so.
59'
Rashford does well to put Dier under pressure deep down the left wing, forcing the defender into poking the ball behind for a corner. It's curled in towards the near post by the youngster, but Son is there to nod it behind for another corner.
57'
United come back once again as they continue putting plenty of pressure on the visitors' defence. Mkhitaryan and Rashford link up well, setting up the latter to cut inside towards the penalty area, but Alderweireld is there to dispossess the teenager with a well-timed tackle.
55'
And now Lukaku goes close! Mkhitaryan causes more problems for the Tottenham back line as his darts into the left-hand side of the box and towards the near post. He then fizzes a low cross-cum-shot towards Lukaku, who tries to latch onto the ball but can't do so due to a vital deflection off Alderweireld.
54'
What a chance for Rashford to open the scoring! Mkhitaryan is able to get a shot away from the edge of the penalty area, and it's clumsily fumbled by Lloris in the middle of the goal. Rashford looks set to pounce on the ball a few yards out, but Davies does brilliantly to clear the danger at the vital moment.
53'
Vertonghen charges deep into the United half of the pitch and manages to tee up Davies before being clattered into by Bailly. The Tottenham wing-back then spins and picks out Eriksen, who quickly swings in a cross-cum-shot that sails a few yards wide of the far post.
52'
Young darts down the left wing and gets himself into a promising position just outside of the Tottenham penalty area. He then fires a low cross towards Rashford in the middle of the box, where Lloris sticks out a hand and easily collects the ball.
50'
A quick pass from Young bounces down the left flank and into the path of Lukaku, who looks set to reach it ahead of Alderweireld. He ends up misreading the bounce of the ball, however, and allows his fellow Belgian to shepherd it out of play for a goal-kick.
48'
Antonio Valencia is blocked off by Davies as he tries to storm down the right wing, resulting in a free-kick for United in a promising position. Mkhitaryan steps up and launches a deep cross over to the far post, where it misses Lukaku by a few yards and bounces out for a throw-in on the opposite flank.
46'
We're underway once again!
45' +1
Son commits a slightly clumsy foul over on the right wing, and this time it's United who are presented with a chance to lump a free-kick into the box. Rashford's cross is a poor one, however, and it fails to beat the first man on the edge of the penalty area.
45'
The fourth official has indicated that there will be just one minute of added time.
44'
Alli is caught by Jones as he cuts inside from the right flank, and Tottenham are awarded another free-kick, this time in a more promising position. It's sent short and worked over to Aurier, who swings in a cross into the middle of the penalty area that's easily dealt with by Smalling.
43'
Herrera lunges into Son and catches the South Korean with a slightly late tackle, resulting in a free-kick for Tottenham inside their own half of the pitch. It initially looks as if the Spaniard might receive a yellow card, but he instead is just given a talking to by the referee.
41'
Chance for Dier! The set-piece isn't fully dealt with by the home side, allowing the ball to pinball around the box for a few moments. Dier then sticks out a foot and manages to get a shot away, but his volley is slightly underhit and makes life relatively easy for De Gea.
40'
Sissoko and Son link up quickly just outside of the United penalty area before the latter tees up Aurier. The Ivorian is somehow onside and manages to get a shot away, but his strike is closed down and deflects behind for a corner.
38'
The game is starting to open up now, with both sides quickly pushing forward. Rashford does well to win United a corner that is cleared only as far as Herrera, but a promising attacking move is brought to a disappointing end by the Spaniard, who fires an attempted cross high and wide of the goal.
37'
After dealing with the danger, United try to quickly counter-attack, but Mkhitaryan is swiftly dispossessed and Tottenham push forward once again. This time it's Alli who darts into the box before managing to get a shot away, but it's underhit and causes few problems for De Gea.
36'
Vertonghen charges into the left-hand side of the United penalty area and tries to get a cross away, but Eric Bailly is there to make sure the ball is poked behind for a corner. The set-piece is a good one and picks out Alli, who rises high and sees his bullet header deflected away from danger at the vital moment.
34'
Aurier and Alli link up well, setting up the wing-back to dart into the right-hand side of the United box and get a shot away. He can't quite do so, though, as Young is there to muscle his way in front of the Ivorian before knocking the ball back to De Gea.
32'
Tottenham lose possession in the middle of the pitch and allow United to counter-attack quickly. Mkhitaryan immediately sets up Lukaku to charge into space over on the right wing, but Vertonghen does brilliantly to rush back and dispossess the striker with a well-timed sliding tackle.
30'
It's all kicking off! Young is caught by a flailing arm by Aurier, leaving the United player on the ground and unhappy with the Ivorian's conduct. A fracas then kicks off between several players that involves Alli, who squares up to Young but stops himself from lashing out. In the end, a stern talking to from the referee is all that is required.
28'
Almost a costly mistake from De Gea! A curling cross from Davies should be easily dealt with by De Gea, but the goalkeeper fumbles the ball after running into Jones and spills it to Sissoko. The Frenchman quickly shoots, but his strike is poorly hit and, luckily for De Gea, sails high over the crossbar.
26'
A misplaced backwards header from Nemanja Matic causes a few moments of panic for United as it bounces into the path of Dele Alli. The Tottenham midfielder desperately tries to latch onto the ball in front of goal, but he can't quite get the better of Jones and the defender can clear the danger.
24'
Lukaku breaks through the middle of the Tottenham defence and tries to latch onto a lofted pass that is quickly thumped forward, but his run towards the visitors' box is mistimed and the linesman's flag is immediately raised.
22'
Aurier gets himself into a good position deep down the right flank and quickly crosses, but Smalling is there to knock the ball behind for a corner. Christian Eriksen steps up and swings a cross into the penalty area, where Eric Dier rises high but can't quite reach the ball in front of goal.
20'
After struggling to see much of the ball during the early stages of the game, Tottenham now find themselves on the front foot. This time it's Toby Alderweireld who darts into the hosts' half of the pitch before shooting from distance, but his strike is left by De Gea and can only find the side-netting.
19'
Space opens up for Sissoko and allows the midfielder to charge through the centre of the pitch. He has plenty of team-mates around him but instead decides to shoot from 25 yards out, and his audacious effort on goal is easily stopped by De Gea.
17'
A poor attempted clearance from Jones flies out for a throw-in and allows Tottenham to push forward once again. More good play by Son almost sets him up to shoot on the edge of the United penalty area, but he loses his footing at the vital moment and the hosts do well to win the ball back.
15'
Son dances his way into the left-hand side of the United box before spinning and setting up Ben Davies. The wing-back curls in a cross from the corner flag that looks set to find Aurier, but the Ivorian is beaten in the air by Smalling and the hosts are able to hold on easily enough.
13'
The resulting corner is whipped in by Rashford and causes a few more problems for Lloris, who nonetheless does well to get a hand on the ball. The Frenchman then tries to kick-start a quick counter-attack, but Phil Jones is there on the halfway line to make sure Tottenham can't.
12'
Decent strike by Rashford! Henrikh Mkhitaryan picks up the ball midway inside the Tottenham half of the pitch and immediately bursts forward, where he's clattered into by Moussa Sissoko and wins his side a free-kick in a promising position. Rashford steps up and shoots, and his bouncing strike is just about tipped round the near post by a well-timed diving save from Lloris.
11'
After a tough opening 10 minutes, Tottenham are finally able to string together a decent series of passes inside the United half of the pitch. They can't find a way through the home side's back line, however, and Aurier eventually shoots from 30 yards out, but his long-range effort is an audacious one and rolls straight into the hands of David De Gea.
9'
Big chance for Lukaku! A poor attempted clearance from Lloris can only find Ander Herrera, who quickly sets up Lukaku to counter-attack. The Belgian plays a one-two with Rashford on the edge of the Tottenham penalty area and then unleashes a wild cross-cum-shot, but it fails to find a team-mate or hit the target and bounces out of play for a throw-in.
7'
It's been a good start by the hosts, who are pushing high up the pitch and causing Tottenham a few problems. The visitors are eventually able to win the ball back and try to counter-attack through Jan Vertonghen, who launches a lofted pass towards Heung-Min Son that's easily dealt with by Chris Smalling.
5'
More good play by United sees Ashley Young skip down the left flank and past Serge Aurier. He easily gets the better of the Ivorian on the edge of the box and then fires a cross into the heart of the penalty area, where two United players try to latch onto it but aren't quite able to.
3'
United immediately burst into action from the start and put Tottenham under early pressure. Romelu Lukaku twists and turns his way into the left-hand side of the visitors' penalty area before fizzing a pass across the face of goal, where Hugo Lloris is just about able to get a hand on the ball ahead of Marcus Rashford.

We're off! Tottenham get us underway, attacking from right to left.
Good afternoon and welcome to our live text commentary of today’s Premier League game between Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford.
Everything had been going so well for a revitalised and thoroughly impressive United side, but last weekend they were handed a shock defeat by Huddersfield Town that sent them crashing back down to earth. The 2-1 loss at the John Smith’s Stadium has left them five points behind league leaders Manchester City, and another defeat today would see them drop down to third place without a win in three league outings.
United’s poor run of form comes at a time when Romelu Lukaku has started to struggle in front of goal. The Belgian started life at Old Trafford in fine form, resulting in him finding the back of the net 10 times in nine games, but he’s now gone 297 minutes without a goal across all competitions. He’ll be desperately aiming to hit back today, and, with City quickly pulling away, it would be the perfect time for him to do so.
Last weekend’s excellent 4-1 win at home to Liverpool means that Tottenham start the weekend equal on points with their opponents today, but they’ll have to pick themselves up and refocus after the midweek cup defeat against West Ham United. A disappointing loss coupled with the injury suffered by Harry Kane, who will miss out today, means it’s certainly been a difficult week for Mauricio Pochettino’s men.
They may be having to go into battle without their star striker but Tottenham still boast enough attacking talent to cause United some real problems. Heung-Min Son impressed against West Ham on Wednesday and is set to start up front again this afternoon, and aerial threat Fernando Llorente should feature at some point after being named on the substitutes’ bench.
Recent meetings between these two sides have been intense and exciting affairs, with both teams enjoying two victories each from the previous four games. Tottenham impressed in a 2-1 win the last time they met back in May but are without a victory at Old Trafford since January 2014, with United winning the last three meetings here. In fact, Spurs haven’t even managed to score a goal in this part of Manchester since then.
There’s just under 15 minutes left to go until kick-off, so let’s have a look at how the two teams will be lining up this afternoon…
Manchester United XI (3-4-1-2): De Gea; Bailly, Smalling, Jones; Valencia, Herrera, Matic, Young; Mkhitaryan; Lukaku, Rashford.
Tottenham Hotspur substitutes: Vorm, Trippier, Rose, Sanchez, Dembele, N’Koudou, Llorente.
Tottenham Hotspur XI (3-4-2-1): Lloris; Alderweireld, Dier, Vertonghen; Aurier, Sissoko, Winks, Davies; Alli, Eriksen; Son.
Manchester United substitutes: Romero, Darmian, Blind, McTominay, Lingard, Mata, Martial.
Jose Mourinho has decided to make three changes to the United side that started the defeat against Huddersfield, with Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Marcus Rashford coming into the starting line-up to replace Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial as they switch to a back three.
Meanwhile, Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has also made three alterations to the team that featured in their last league outing, with Davinson Sanchez, Kieran Trippier and Harry Kane making way for Eric Dier, Moussa Sissoko and Ben Davies.
The two sides are making their way out onto the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off. The atmosphere inside the stadium is electric, with both sets of fans in fine voice.
HALF-TIME: MANCHESTER UNITED 0-0 TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR
It's been a slightly scrappy game so far, with neither side managing to get a decent grip on the game. Tottenham have arguably been the better of the two teams, despite struggling during a nervy opening 10 minutes, but, without Kane, they've found it difficult to cause too many problems for De Gea in the United goal.
The two teams are making their way back out on to the pitch ahead of the start of the second half. Neither side have made any substitutions during the half-time break.
FULL-TIME: MANCHESTER UNITED 1-0 TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR
It was a tough and evenly fought contest that looked set to end in a goalless draw, but, as they often do, United were finally able to find the back of the net late on to leave with three well-earned, and much-needed, points. Another defeat today could have left them eight points behind Manchester City by the end of the afternoon, but the victory means they're firmly in second place for another week.
For Tottenham, the defeat is a tough one to take, especially seeing as they did well to limit United's chances on goal for 81 minutes only to concede when the draw looked as good as theirs. They struggled up front and found it difficult to create many chances in Harry Kane's absence, leaving De Gea relatively untested in the hosts' goal.
