Good evening and welcome to our LIVE match commentary of the Europa League clash between Olympiacos and Besiktas.
In the league, they were beaten 2-0 by PAOK at the weekend but remain top of the Greek Super League, however their lead has now been slashed to seven points giving hope to Panionios and PAOK.
Meanwhile, Besiktas have never made it to the last 8 in the UEFA Europa League, but have reached this stage in UEFA Cup and European Cup in 2002/2003 and 1986/1987 respectively. Besiktas come into this game in good form, beating Rizespor on Saturaday and the visitors have won all their last five games in all competitions, while Olympiakos have lost three times in their last five games.
The two teams have never met in a competitive game before, but have played twice in friendly games, with Olympiacos coming out victorious in the first game 2-1, before Besiktas defeated them 1-0 in the reverse game.
Olympiacos last featured in round 16 back in the 2011/2012 season, and tonight they will be looking to secure a Europa League quarter-final final spot with victory over Besiktas over the two legs. The Greek side face another Turkish team in the UEFA Europa League, having defeated Osmanlispor in the last round. The Greek Champions will be hoping for a repeat of this result as they face Beskitas tonight.
Olympicas sacked their manager Paulo Bento in midweek, despite them leading the Greek Superleague by seven points. Bento's sacking comes after seven months in charge and after Olympiacos suffered a third straight league defeat, however they are still top of the table. Bento took over from Victor Sanchez who was in charge at the start of the season, but he was sacked in August after two games. How will the players react tonight?
