Into the final two minutes of the match now and neither side has been able to carve out an opportunity in the last 10 minutes. The ball is being contained in the midfield third, and Depor look to have resorted to time wasting.
90' +3
There's just not the same sort of urgency here in stoppage-time. Both teams would unquestionably like to claim all three points, but the lengthy stoppage and scary scenes have really drained the match of any energy or tempo.
90' +1
The lengthy delay has seen seven minutes added on at the end of this second half. Play has resumed, but there's a somber feel to proceedings, with Torres' injury casting a dark cloud over the remainder of the match.
89'
Torres is carried off on the stretcher with his neck in a brace. Our thoughts and good wishes go out to him at this time.
88'
Álex Bergantiños gets yellow.
Diego Simeone is livid with the team of officials for not taking action, but the main concern here has to be the health of Fernando Torres. Players on both sides are perturbed by the injury, as the striker is still being attended to. The air has been completely sucked out of the stadium, and understandably so.
86'
Scary, sobering moments here as Fernando Torres is knocked unconscious after a clash of heads. The unsuspecting striker took a blow to the back of the head and went limp in the air before landing flat on his face. Players and referee reacted in a hurry, shouting for a stretcher, before huddling around worriedly.
84'
STAT: Two of the last three meetings between these two sides at the Estadio Municipal de Riazor have ended in draws, with Atletico winning the other 2-1 courtesy of an Antoine Griezmann double.
82'
Laure enters the game and replaces Luisinho.
A final change from Deportivo as we creep into the final 10 minutes, with Laure in for Luisinho.
80'
WORLD CLASS STOP! That's a save of the year candidate, no doubt, one out of the top drawer from Lux, who dives to his right at full-stretch and somehow keeps out Torres' thumping half-volley from 15 yards with an incredibly strong right hand!
Minute
Description
78'
Back and forth these two sides go in search of a late winner, which has made for some excellent viewing! Neither side appears content with the draw, both believing they can snatch all three points.
76'
Álex Bergantiños enters the game and replaces E. Çolak.
Depor's second switch of the night sees Alex Bergantinos replace Colak.
74'
D. Godín gets yellow.
Diego Godin becomes the second player booked on the night.
73'
GOAL-SAVING BLOCK! There may have been a hint of luck to that, but it doesn't make it any less important from Partey who does superbly to deny the hosts' a goal from their best attacking move of the half!
72'
STAT: Atletico are unbeaten in their last eight away matches across all competitions (W4 D4).
70'
Well it's certainly game on now! Perfectly poised as we enter the final 20 minutes with the game on a knife edge. Depor hit back quickly in search of a way back in front, but a header from Andone bounces just wide of the far post!
68'
A. Griezmann has scored a goal for Atletico Madrid! Assist by Y. Carrasco.
Carrasco picks up the assist for his role in the one-two leading up to the goal.
WHAT AN UNBELIEVABLE STRIKE! Griezmann takes a simple, square pass from Carrasco and lifts a stunning effort over Lux that dips just under the bar! It's a sensational hit from 25 yards that he made look unfairly - unbelievably - easy! This goal comes just a few seconds after Filipe Luis hit the inside of the post with an outstanding long-range effort of his own!
67'
Atletico are coming to command the bulk of possession, but creativity remains in short supply. They're finding no way through this hard working, well organised Depor defence.
65'
Fernando Torres enters the game and replaces K. Gameiro.
A final roll of the dice for Diego Simeone, still with 25 minutes to play, as he brings Fernando Torres on at the expense of Gameiro.
63'
STAT: Atletico are unbeaten in their last 10 league matches against Deportivo, dating back to a 2-1 away defeat in November 2009 (W8 D2).
61'
Clever bit of skill from Griezmann, who wins a free-kick on the edge of the box after being tripped up by Pedro Mosquera. He opts to take the resulting set piece himself, but his effort smacks off the face of a defender in the wall before being ushered to safety.
59'
Atletico's attacking threat has been completely non-existent in this second half. Depor are looking the brighter side in possession, and they get a good chance off a corner as Andone wins a header, but Gimenez is able to get a block in, though it didn't look like he knew all that much about it.
57'
N. Gaitán enters the game and replaces Koke.
Y. Carrasco enters the game and replaces Á. Correa.
Diego Simeone reacts to the Depor switch with one of his own, introducing high-flying attacker Yannick Carrasco at the expense of Angel Correa.
Also out for Atletico is Koke, who is replaced by Nico Gaitan.
54'
Fernando Navarro enters the game and replaces G. Kakuta.
A clear indication of Pepe Mel's approach in this second half as he brings on full-back Fernando Navarro to replace attacker Gael Kakuta. The hosts will shift their focus to defending their lead, but have to be careful not to become too cautious with so much time still to play.
52'
STAT: After losing two of their three home matches to start the season, Deportivo have suffered just two defeats in their subsequent seven home matches (W3 D2).
50'
The midfield third has become increasingly congested, not helped at all by the lack of quality on display from both teams in possession. It's all been disjointed since the restart.
48'
Slow start to the second half as the sides try to recapture the emotion they had to end the first. The tempo really picked up in the latter stages of the first half which, from a neutral perspective, we can only hope is a sign of what's to come.
46'
Here we go again...
45' +2
HALF-TIME: DEPORTIVO 1-0 ATLETICO.
45' +1
Luisinho gets yellow.
Luisinho goes into the book for an incredibly cynical challenge, dragging Gameiro down from behind to prevent him from going through on goal. That would have been red had his defence partner not been sprinting back.
45'
SUPER SAVE! Pedro Mosquera does brilliantly to send an acrobatic effort at goal, but his scissoring volley is parried by the strong hands of Oblak! One minute to be added on here as the match springs to life.
43'
OUTSTANDING TACKLE! Again it's a mixup between Oblak and Gimenez that nearly costs Atletico, as the keeper and defender both leave the ball for each other with Andone in hot pursuit. After a moment of panic, they both go after the ball, but it's Gimenez who slides in at the vital moment to knock it behind with an expertly timed challenge.
42'
STAT: Atletico had previously kept eight clean sheets in their last 10 matches against Deportivo, conceding just two goals while scoring 21.
40'
PENALTY SHOUTS DENIED! Atletico may have got away with one there! Godin is put under pressure as Andone chases the ball down inside the area. The centre-half is nearly beaten for pace, before knocking the ball away, but the replay indicates it clearly came off his arm! Somehow, though, it's not given.
38'
Scrambled clear! Nervy moments there at the back for the hosts as a deflected cross catches Lux in no-man's land. The ball drops in the heart of the six-yard box with the goal gaping, but Pedro Mosquera is on hand to clear the danger, under surprisingly little pressure.
36'
Of course the danger that comes with Atletico's newfound approach is how exposed they're leaving themselves at the back. Depor win the ball in an advanced position and break quickly, but Borges can only head over the bar on the end of Colak's cross.
34'
Atletico are growing in stature as we approach the final 10 minutes of the first half, committing more bodies forward and looking like an increasing threat as they advance the ball with some real urgency.
32'
SMART SAVE! Better from Atletico, particularly from Correa, who does well to sidestep a defender and open up space for a shot after being picked out in an advanced position by Partey. Correa's effort is struck well, but Lux gets a strong hand across to make the save, before collecting the rebound ahead of Gameiro.
30'
STAT: Kevin Gameiro has four goals and an assist in Atletico’s last two away matches.
28'
Frustration is beginning to set in for Antoine Griezmann, due to his lack of involvement, not his Justin Timberlake circa-NSYNC haircut. Although it's possible both could be culprits. Atletico need someone to step up and provide a reliable link between midfield and attack to get Griezmann and Gameiro involved.
26'
The trainers are immediately called into action by the referee as Luisinho lands awkwardly following an aerial duel. The referee asks for a stretcher to be brought on as the left-back squirms in pain on the ground, but upon its arrival Luisinho pops up to his feet and looks no worse for wear.
24'
Filipe Luis puts together a decent overlapping run on the left, winning a free-kick as he's tripped up from behind by Andone. Atletico pack the bodies in the area in anticipation of the coming delivery, but it's dealt with well by the hosts.
22'
Depor have had a real spring in their step since taking the lead, playing with much more confidence both on and off the ball. They're managing some decent spells in possession, while keeping Atletico entirely at bay.
20'
STAT: Atletico have 45 points through 24 games. It’s the first time they have been under 50 points at this stage of a LaLiga season since managing just 33 in 2011/12.
18'
In regards to Deportivo's goal, the greater share of the blame has to be placed on Oblak. His pass out from the back was wretched. Gimenez is certainly not innocent for his role, as he was far too casual in the face on danger, but there's no reason for Oblak to be making such a poor decision with the goal-kick.
16'
Atletico playing with a bit more fighting spirit here. They had it too easy in the opening 10 minutes, started sleepwalking, and were dearly punished.
14'
F. Andone gets yellow.
Andone is subsequently booked for showing emotion in his celebration. You can't do that anymore in football.
13'
F. Andone has scored a goal for Deportivo La Coruña!
DREAM START FOR PEPE MEL! And it's disaster for Atletico, who are architects of their own downfall here! Jan Oblak's goal-kick puts Gimenez in a tight spot. The centre-half's stray first touch is pounced upon by Andone who sprints through on goal and tucks a delightful finish beyond Oblak and in at the near post!
11'
When a new manager takes over, history indicates an upswing in emotion and work rate from the players, but, at least for now, that has not been the case with Deportivo. They're lacking any urgency as they drop very deep, allowing Atletico time and space to pass the ball around in midfield.
9'
Deportivo have managed no more than a few brief, completely non-threatening spells in possession as we approach the 10th minute. They have hardly been able to advance the ball past midfield.
7'
STAT: Deportivo have lost four successive LaLiga matches for the first time since September to October 2014. They ended that season tied for the 18th, avoiding relegation on a tiebreaker.
5'
Atletico are showing the greater initiative through the first five minutes, but their quality disintegrates as they break into the final third.
3'
A speculative start from both sides in front of what can only be described as a scattered crowd in Galicia. Those in attendance are doing their best to create a homey atmosphere for Deportivo, but there's an abundance of empty seats spread throughout the ground, which can't be more than half full (or half empty).
1'
AND THEY'RE OFF! Deportivo in blue and white as they get us underway, attacking left to right, with Atletico in red and white.
Hello and welcome to live coverage from the Estadio Municipal de Riazor as Atletico Madrid aim to tighten their grip on a spot in the top four when they visit a Deportivo La Coruna side aiming to stave off relegation.
Atletico’s final season at the Vicente Calderon has not gone entirely according to plan. Their title bid has essentially been nullified with just over a third of the season to play, as their focus has shifted solely to holding onto a Champions League spot.
Diego Simeone’s troops are holding down fourth spot, but it’s far from a comfortable margin, level on points with Real Sociedad and only three up on suddenly resurgent Villarreal – all this while their hopes of finishing in the top three appear slim to none.
On the other side of the pitch, and table, Deportivo’s tailspin has thrust them into the heart of a congested relegation battle. The hosts also sit in fourth, only from the bottom, level on points with Granada who currently hold down the final spot in the bottom three.
Deportivo have yet to win a league match in 2017, losing for on the spin, which led to the sacking of former boss Gaizka Garitano on Monday. Tonight, newly appointed Pepe Mel takes charge following a dreary two months for the club, as he aims to inspire their passage to safety.
Pepe Mel comes in and makes five changes for his first match in charge. Alejandro Arribas comes in at centre-half to replace the suspended Raul Albentosa, while Luisinho starts ahead of Fernando Navarro at left-back. In midfield, Celso Borges replaces Guilherme, while Carles Gil and Joselu are dropped in attack, with Faycal Facar and Florin Andone taking their place, the latter of whom leads the line.
Diego Simeone makes three changes to his side from the defeat to Barcelona. Jose Gimenez replaces Stefan Savic in defence, while Thomas Partey gets the nod ahead of Yannick Carrasco in midfield. Saul Niguez misses out through suspension, with Angel Correa taking his place. Sime Vrsaljko retains his spot at right-back for at least one more match with Juanfran still recovering from injury.
Florin Andone's goal, a gift from Jan Oblak, has Deportivo ahead at the interval in Pepe Mel's first game in charge. Atletico were anything but convincing through the opening 30 minutes, but they turned on the style late in the half, which could be a sign of things to come.
Antoine Griezmann's wonder-strike cancelled out Florin Andone's opener, in a match overshadowed by a scary head injury suffered late on by Fernando Torres. It's a positive start to Pepe Mel's tenure with Deportivo, while it's back to the drawing board for Atletico, who can probably kiss goodbye any realistic hopes of a top-three finish.
That's all for our live coverage, thanks for following along. Goodbye!
