SAVE! It almost got worse for Spurs, as Lloris is forced into an instinctive stop to deny Gent the win.
90' +2
CLOSE! Kane turns and drives an excellent strike towards the target, but it skims just wide.
90'
The huge contingent of Gent fans are in fine voice at Wembley, which is emptying quickly - the Spurs fans having seen enough as another European campaign comes to a disappointing end.
89'
V. Wanyama gets yellow.
H. Winks gets yellow.
K. Coulibaly gets yellow.
V. Janssen enters the game and replaces E. Dier.
A final change for Spurs, as Dier is replaced by Janssen. The chase is already up though, you feel...
Winks is the next player to pick up a booking.
A booking for Wanyama after he tussled with Coulibaly.
Yellow card Kalifa Coulibaly
88'
CHANCE! Another opportunity goes begging for Spurs, and it’s a bad miss from Son. Kane played him in, but the South Korea forward failed to keep his composure from close-range.
86'
Dier goes into the book for a late challenge on Perbet.
85'
E. Dier gets yellow.
Remarkably, Perbet's goal was Gent's first shot on target in this game They've only had 3 shots on target in the whole tie.
83'
L. Verstraete gets yellow.
A yellow card is shown to Verstraete, after he felled Walker on the right flank.
82'
J. Perbet has scored a goal for Gent!
GOOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLL!!! PERBET SCORES AGAIN! Well, that’s game over, surely!? Dreadful from Spurs, as they are torn apart at the back. Coulibaly looks as though he has wasted the chance, but his cross rebounds to the substitutes, who nets his second goal in as many games against Spurs with a prodded finish that deflects in off Dier.
81'
Neat build-up play from Spurs, but although Eriksen manages to find room on the cusp of Gent’s area, his throughball is a poor one, and trickles straight to Kalinic.
Minute
Description
78'
Spurs have mounted a fantastic fight-back in this second half, and if not for Alli’s recklessness, would be in pole position to go on and win this tie. As it is, the odds are still stacked against them, though they are sure to launch an all-out raid on the Gent goal in the closing stages.
75'
J. Perbet enters the game and replaces M. Simon.
H. Winks enters the game and replaces M. Dembélé.
A rash tackle from Walker, who duly picks up a booking after diving in on Gershon.
A third and final switch for Gent follows. Simon’s last involvement was to miss that gilt-edged chance, and he makes way for last week’s hero Perbet.
Two changes in quick-succesion now. First, it’s Spurs who make their second substitution, with Winks replacing Dembele.
74'
K. Walker gets yellow.
MISS! What a chance for Simon! The goal was gaping for the winger, but he failed to apply the finish after latching onto a cross from the left, only managing to direct his header into the side-netting.
73'
Tonight’s game is only the second time Eriksen has scored and assisted in the same game for Spurs this season, after Swansea in December
71'
Spurs have had 20 attempts on goal compared to Gent’s two so far, but should they fail to progress this evening, it would be the end of the road for their European journey at Wembley this term. They would, however, play again at the national stadium should they beat Millwall in their upcoming FA Cup quarter-final. They look likely, of course, to play all of their home games here next season, while White Hart Lane undergoes a revamp.
69'
SAVE! Desperate goalkeeping from Kalinic, who reacts quickly to get down low to his right and prevent Gershon’s header inadvertently nestling into the back of Gent’s net. Moments later, Walker hammers an effort into the side-netting from an acute angle.
67'
Brilliant from Son, who has changed the game for the hosts. He got clear down the right and placed an inviting cross to the front post, but Kane cannot apply the finishing touch.
66'
CHANCE! Kane threads a brilliant pass through to Eriksen, but on this occasion the midfielder lacks the pace to escape Gent’s recovering defence, and Gigot is able to make a fantastic covering challenge.
65'
Gent have managed to get on the ball a bit more since Wanyama’s strike, and are now retaining possession well as they look to take the sting out of Spurs’ attack.
64'
J. Vertonghen gets yellow.
Silly from Vertonghen, who stems Spurs’ momentum with a late challenge on Foket, picking up a booking in the process.
62'
The odds may still be against Spurs, but the hosts have given themselves a lifeline with that goal. It throws the tie wide open once more, and Spurs just need to score another - without conceding at the other end, that is - to secure progression.
61'
V. Wanyama has scored a goal for Tottenham Hotspur! Assist by C. Eriksen.
Son was at the heart of that goal with more clever build-up play. His cross-cum-shot fell to Eriksen, who duly teed up the advancing Wanyama.
GOOOOOAAAAAALLLL!! SPURS GO AHEAD! The 10 men of Tottenham deservedly retake the lead, as Wanyama gets on the end of a loose ball in the area to curl home a sumptuous effort into the top-left corner - the Kenyan’s first-ever Europa League goal!
60'
CHANCE! Superb play from Son, who makes his presence known immediately with some sublime footwork to engineer the room for a low cross into Eriksen. The Dane turns the ball goalwards, but Kane’s boot blocks the shot.
58'
Son Heung-Min enters the game and replaces B. Davies.
A maiden substitution now from Spurs boss Pochettino. Davies makes way, with Son his replacement. That will signal a change in system, with Son moving up alongside Kane, and Vertonghen switching to left-back. Dembele, Wanyama and Eriksen will form a midfield trident.
56'
L. Verstraete enters the game and replaces B. Dejaegere.
Another change for Gent. Dejaegere, who was on the end of that horrific tackle from Alli, makes way - hobbling off slowly. His replacement is the 17-year-old Louis Verstraete, who only made his senior debut in December.
54'
Smart, swift keeping from Kalinic, who is out quickly to prevent Eriksen getting on the end of Kane’s precise throughball, which came at the culmination of a well-worked Spurs attack.
52'
Neat play from Spurs, with Walker finding space on the right-hand side of the 18-yard box. He attempts to find Eriksen, but his low cross is cut-out expertly by Mitrovic.
51'
Alli’s red card means he has become the first Spurs player to be sent off at Wembley since Justin Edinburgh saw red in the 1999 League Cup final
49'
Good defending from Mitrovic, who denies Eriksen a clear sight of goal after the former Ajax playmaker had barged his way forward from midfield.
48'
A heart-in-the-mouth moment for Kalinic, as a stray back pass forces him to scarper back to his goal and hook the ball away off the line! Gent escape unscathed though...
46'
T. Matton enters the game and replaces D. Miličević.
Welcome back! Gent, who have made one substitution at the interval, with Milicevic making way for Matton, get the second-half up and running.
45' +2
And, to bookend the half for Spurs, Eriksen sends a left-footed strike curling over, well off target, sending Pochettino stomping down the tunnel.
45'
L. Kalinić gets yellow.
A yellow card for Kalinic, seemingly for time wasting.
42'
A half that started so well for Spurs has completely turned on its head, and Pochettino’s side are facing a shock exit from the Europa League...
39'
D. Alli goes off after a red card!
ALLI IS OFF! Well, it goes from bad to worse for Spurs, as Alli receives his marching orders for a an over-the-top challenge on Dejaegere. The England midfielder can have no complaints, that was a shocking tackle, and he has really let his team down.
37'
Once more, Gent cause Spurs real issues from a corner, with the hosts taking three attempts to clear the ball. They eventually do so, though play has to be called back after Dejaegere takes a knock in a challenge with Dembele.
35'
SAVE! That’s a fantastic stop from Kalinic, who pulls out a top-draw save to deny Walker at his near post.
33'
Eriksen and Dembele combine with a short set-piece, though it merely results in the latter conceding a foul in Gent’s area.
31'
Spurs have lost the zip and confidence that they were full of earlier, and the hosts suddenly look rather vulnerable as Gent press high, though Dembele gets them out of danger with a sublime turn and run from deep. That sets up a counter which results in Walker’s cross - which was aimed for Kane - been deflected out for a corner...
30'
Genk’s equaliser represents the first away goal of this tie, and means that Spurs now have to score at least another two if they are to make it through. It also means that tonight’s game cannot drag on after 90 minutes...
28'
The last time Tottenham faced a Belgian team in a European knockout tie, they lost the first leg 2-1 away, before winning the second 3-0 at home (v Club Brugge in the last 32 of the UEFA Cup, 1984/85). There’s no chance of a 3-0 victory this time around, though...
26'
K. Saief gets yellow.
That’s nasty from Saief, who swiftly joins his teammate in the official’s book, having lunged in recklessly on Kane.
23'
B. Dejaegere gets yellow.
The first booking of the game is awarded to Dejaegere, who picks up a yellow for a challenge on Eriksen.
22'
Spurs appeared to be well in the ascendancy, but that sucker punch from the visitors has sparked a fascinating contest now at Wembley, where the travelling Gent support are in raptures. As I type, Eriksen hammers an effort wide from the edge of the area.
20'
H. Kane is unfortunate, scores an own goal!
GOOOOAAAALLLL!!! GENT ARE LEVEL! What a horrid moment for Kane as, from the resulting corner, he heads into the back of the Spurs net under pressure from Simon. Game on!
19'
End to end! Great play from Vertonghen, who drives through Gent’s defence before getting to the byline and aiming to pick out Alli. His cross is blocked, though, and the visitors counter, with only a well-timed tackle from Alderweirld denying Milicevic.
17'
Despite their strong start, Spurs have reason to be wary. They have now won just one of their last four European games against Belgian sides, losing away in Belgium to Anderlecht (October 2015) and Gent in the first leg.
14'
Spurs are dominating at the moment, and Gent are unable to get any kind of foothold on proceedings, with the hosts in complete control, retaining and recycling possession with ease.
12'
CLOSE! Sublime interplay from Spurs, as Eriksen slides a throughball into the path of Walker, who in turn tees up Alli, but the youngster’s half-volley skews just wide.
10'
C. Eriksen has scored a goal for Tottenham Hotspur! Assist by E. Dier.
GOOOOOOAAAAALLLLL!!! SPURS LEAD! Inside 10 minutes, Eriksen has - in typically composed fashion - drilled the home side ahead. A long ball from deep caused havoc for Gent’s defence, allowing the Danish international to sprint into the area and slip a neat finish past Kalinic, levelling the tie.
It was no more than a punt up field from Dier, but it certainly proved effective!
8'
Gent’s only previous match on English soil came against West Ham in a 1-1 draw in the first round of the Cup Winners’ Cup in 1964/65 (lost 1-2 on aggregate).
6'
Tottenham have been regulars in the knockout stage of this competition in recent years, though they have been eliminated from 7 of their last 8 European knockout ties - excluding qualifiers - when they have lost the first leg.
4'
Tidy build-up play from Gent, as they counter down the right flank. Coulibaly combines well with Simon before looking to whip in a cross, but the ball sails harmlessly wide.
2'
Pochettino said in his pre-match press conference that he could tell from the first 50 seconds whether his side would be ready to take control of this tie, and the hosts have lived up to their manager’s expectations by looking to get on the front foot as quickly as possible - both Eriksen and Alli seeing ambitious long-range strikes blocked.
1'
KICK-OFF! On the whistle of the referee, we are underway at Wembley. Tottenham, donning their all-white home strip, get proceedings up and running.
Hello and a very warm welcome to LIVE coverage of the Europa League round of 32! Stick right here as we bring you all the action from Wembley Stadium, where Tottenham are taking on Gent!
Spurs are 1-0 down on aggregate heading into the second-leg of this tie, with Jeremy Perbet’s goal having done the damage for the Belgian side last week.
However, Mauricio Pochettino’s side - who returned to winning ways with a convincing 3-0 thumping of Fulham in the FA Cup last time out - will be confident of overturning that deficit on home soil this evening, albeit at the national stadium, rather than White Hart Lane.
TEAM NEWS - Tottenham substitutes: Son, Janssen, Vorm, Trippier, Sissoko, Wimmer, Winks.
TEAM NEWS - Tottenham (3-4-2-1): Lloris; Dier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen; Walker, Wanyama, Dembele, Davies; Eriksen, Alli; Kane.
Playing, or rather winning, at Wembley has been difficult for Spurs, who have lost five of the six matches they have featured in at the stadium. Two of those defeats came in the Champions League group stage this season, though they did better CSKA Moscow back in December.
Two changes in personnel for Spurs, with Pochettino also switching systems compared to the side that started in Gent last week. Toby Alderweireld returns to a three-man defence, replacing Harry Winks, while Christian Eriksen comes in for Moussa Sissoko. Harry Kane, fresh from his hat-trick against Fulham, leads the line.
TEAM NEWS - Gent substitutes: Rinne, Matton, Kalu, Perbet, De Smet, Verstraete, Rabiu.
Likewise, Gent boss Hein Vanhaezebrouck makes two changes to the side that triumphed last Thursday. Goal-scorer Perbet drops out, replaced by Kalifa Coulibaly up top. In defence, Samuel Gigot replaces Nana Asare.
With Gent having set-out to match their hosts in terms of system, we could well be set for an intriguing tactical battle at Wembley this evening, though Spurs will no doubt be looking to get off to the strongest possible start as they aim to make it into the last 16 of this commotion for the fourth time in the last five seasons.
A huge number of Gent supporters have made the relatively short trip across from Belgium, and they are creating a fantastic atmosphere in the section of Wembley they have been allocated.
Wembley is packed close to capacity, the teams are out on the pitch, and we are just moments away from kick-off...
HALF TIME! Boos ring out at Wembley, where it is the Gent fans making all the noise, with their side drawing 1-1 with 10-man Tottenham!
It all started so well for Spurs, as Eriksen fired them ahead 10 minutes in. But Kane’s own-goal levelled proceedings, before Alli deservedly saw red for a reckless, late and nasty tackle.
It’s left Spurs with a mountain to climb in the second half, as they need to score at least twice - without conceding again, that is - if they are to make it through to the round of 16.
FULL TIME! It’s all over at Wembley, as Gent celebrate a famous aggregate win over Tottenham, who crash out of the Europa League at the first hurdle of the knock-out stages.
We should take nothing away from Gent, though, who have excelled on their night in one of the world’s most prestigious stadiums, and have claimed a huge scalp. They celebrate with their massive following in the stands, and will now await tomorrow’s draw for the round of 16.
Spurs were disappointing throughout this tie, and must now switch their full focus to gaining a top four place - at the least - in the Premier League, and progressing in the FA Cup. It’s been a season to forget in Europe for Pochettino’s side.
Well, that’s all from me. Until next time, goodbye!
